羅格在閉幕式形容北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)exceptional是什么意思

　　羅格說北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)是exceptional，沈冰等人解釋為“無與倫比”?真能這么解釋嗎?

　　exceptional的意思是：

　　(1)far beyond what is usual in magnitude or degree，遠(yuǎn)超出常規(guī)。

　　(2)surpassing what is common or usual or expected，超出常規(guī)。

　　(3)deviating widely from a norm of physical or mental ability; used especially of children below normal in intelligence：遠(yuǎn)偏離常規(guī)，一般用于形容兒童能力和智力低下。

　　所以羅格的exceptional，只能解釋為第(1)和第(2)個(gè)意思。我的理解是：羅格想用這個(gè)詞說明北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)是“大大超出常規(guī)的”，主要指我國投入了大量的人力物力，還有就是總體成績很好，還出現(xiàn)了兩個(gè)超人。

　　但這是不是達(dá)到了“無與倫比”的程度呢?似乎還沒有，因?yàn)閑xceptional應(yīng)該是一個(gè)中性詞，雖然在某些場(chǎng)合偏褒義。如果他真要說北京奧運(yùn)“無與倫比”，我認(rèn)為應(yīng)該多用一些褒義詞，如gorgeous、grandiose、 excellent、marvellous、prodigious、spectacular等，至少要三個(gè)，而且還應(yīng)該神采飛揚(yáng)地說出。“無與倫比”這個(gè)詞，在漢語中的地位是很高的，充滿了褒義，不能和exceptional等價(jià)。“無與倫比”直譯成英語應(yīng)該是have no rival，unprecedented。我覺得羅格選這個(gè)詞是很慎重的，我認(rèn)為充分表達(dá)了他的意思。他當(dāng)然要贊揚(yáng)北京奧運(yùn)，而且北京奧運(yùn)絕對(duì)配得上“無與倫比”，但羅格的語氣似乎沒那么強(qiáng)。我的理解是：他要贊揚(yáng)北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)的規(guī)模，又要給歷屆奧運(yùn)會(huì)留點(diǎn)面子，尤其要考慮下屆舉辦國英國的感受。

　　我們搞的奧運(yùn)會(huì)確實(shí)宏大，西方人也震驚，但未必贊同這種方式，因?yàn)檫B張藝謀都說，這種規(guī)模也就我們和北朝鮮能搞出來，如果用上高科技，全球只有我們能搞出來。這是我們的體制決定的。西方的體制決定了他們?cè)诤馁M(fèi)巨資之前要充分征求納稅人的意見，不可能按照我們的方式搞。所以羅格說本屆奧運(yùn)是exceptional，雖然有贊揚(yáng)的意思，但不能和“無與倫比”劃等號(hào)。　　’truly exceptional games’
