Fireworks–to be forbidden or not
When the Spring Festival of 20xx was around the corner, bans on fireworks frequently came out. Some citizens think it necessary to forbid setting off fireworks. For one thing, fireworks worsen air pollution and give rise to smog. For another, they often bring about fires, and even cause great loss of property in addition to severe injuries and deaths.
However, those who are opposed to banning fireworks think it the Chinese tradition to set off fireworks. It is a way of adding to atmosphere of happiness. Besides, fireworks are not set off every day, so it is absolutely not the major source of environmental problem.
Personally speaking, I think it a good idea to ban fireworks for the sake of safety. Anyway, we have many other ways of celebrating the New Year such as having parties. Above all, forbidding fireworks may well let citizens have a peaceful New Year’s Eve.
