　　家鄉變化

　　Dear Michael,

　　You want to know sthe changes about my hometown. You know, great changes have taken place since 60 years ago.

　　In the past, the living conditions were very poor. There were not many buses or cars, and the roads were narrow. Usually, a big family was crowed into a small, dark house. Most families couldn’t get enough food. The communications were simple and slow. People kept in touch with their friends and relatives far away mainly by letter or telegram.

　　Thanks to the government, our hometown has developed rapidly in recent years. The living conditions are much better and more comfortable. The roads are wide. Some people have their own cars. Most of the people have lived in big new houses. Quite a few adults have mobile phones. Because of many good policies, I think our lives will become better and better.

　　My Hometown

　　My hometown lies on the Plain of North China. The famous Grand Canal of China is to the east of our village. This is the place where my forefathers have lived for generations. When I was a boy I often played with other children near the bank of the canal. I watched the passing boats, and I wished to travel all over the world.

　　我的家鄉位于華北平原。中國著名的京杭大運河是我們村莊的東邊。這是我的祖先們世世代代居住的地方。當我還是個小孩時,我經常和別的孩子在運河的岸邊上玩耍。我看著過往的船只,我想環游世界。

　　There are about 800 people in our village. A pond, teeming with fish, lies in front of the village. I used to swim there in summer and skate in winter. It was in this pond that I spent the happiest days of my childhood.

　　我們村子大約有800人。村子前面的一個池塘里充滿著魚。夏天的時候，我過去常常在那里游泳在，冬天的時候就滑冰。我童年最快樂的日子就是在這個池塘里。

　　To the north of our village are great fields. When spring comes, the crops begin to grow, turning the fields green. When crops turn yellow in autumn, the peasants start to harvest them.

　　我們村以北是偉大的田野。當春天來時，莊稼開始生長，把整個田野變成綠色。當莊稼在秋天變黃時，農民就開始收獲了。

　　Between the canal and our village is an orchard. There were only a few kinds of fruit trees years ago, but now the peasants grow many sorts, including peach, plum, apple and orange.

　　我們村和運河之間是一個果園。幾年前只有幾種果樹，但現在農民種植了很多品種，有桃、李、蘋果和橙。

　　The majority of the villagers have become much better off. About a quarter of the households have bought television sets and tape recorders. A reading-room and a library have been built. Every evening many young people go to the evening school to learn science and read newspapers.

　　大部分的村民生活已經變好了。大約四分之一的家庭買了電視機和錄音機。一個閱覽室和一個圖書館已經建成。每天晚上很多年輕人去夜校學習科學知識和閱讀報紙。

　　Two roads cross in front of our village. On summer evenings, people sit under the trees enjoying the cool breeze. The houses in our village are well laid out.

　　在我們村前有條十字路。夏夜,人們坐在樹下享受涼爽的微風。這是我們村子里制定好了的約定。

　　By the end of last year, 35 students in our village had graduated from senior middle school, and 12 students were enrolled at colleges.

　　到去年年底,我們村里已有35名學生高中畢業，有12名被大學錄取了。

　　This is my hometown. I hope you will make a visit here one day.

　　My hometown is Xiamen. I was born there twelve years ago. Now I live in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. Xiamen is a beautiful city that many people visit there. The whole city is clean and tidy. I lived in downtown. It’s near to the port, where is the busiest place, because thousands of people go to the Gulangyu. Gulanyu is a small island. There are many distinctive buildings and paths there. You may get lost in so many paths, but you don’t have to worry. And every path has its own beautiful scenery. I love my beautiful hometown.

　　我的家鄉是廈門，十二年前我出生在那里。我現在住在福建省的首府福州市。廈門是一個很漂亮的城市，每年都有很多游客到這里旅游。整個城市都很干凈整潔。過去，我就住在廈門市里，離碼頭很近。碼頭是最繁忙的地方，因為每天都有成千上萬的人從那里去鼓浪嶼。鼓浪嶼是一個小島，島上有許多特色建筑和小道。行走其中，你可能會迷路，但是不必擔心，每一條小道都有獨特的美麗景色。我愛我美麗的家鄉。

　　My hometown is a small town,that is beautiful,the green trees and colorful.Spring,the branches out the pale green branches,grass lazily opened his eyes,the flowers are in full bloom,red,blue,yellow,purple,various and colorful.Flowers are an intoxicating fragrance,attracted a large group of butterflies,butterfly dance in the air,the picture is really beautiful!I love my hometown!

　　我的家鄉是一個小鎮，那里風景優美，綠樹成陰。春天，樹枝抽出了嫩綠的枝條，小草懶洋洋地睜開眼，花兒們也紛紛盛開了，紅的、藍的、黃的、紫的，千奇百怪，五光十色。花兒們發出陣陣醉人的芳香，引來一大群蝴蝶，蝴蝶在空中翩翩起舞，那景象可真美!我愛我的家鄉!

　　我的家鄉 My Hometown

　　Before I go to middle school, I live with my grandparents in the hometown. It is the most beautiful place for me in the world. The environment is so clean. There are so many trees around me and the water is so clean that I can even see fish swimming. Sometimes I will go boating with my friends in the small river. I enjoy the birds singing in the mountain. There will be some special festivals as the traditional culture. Then people in the village will prepare some shows and sometimes a huge parade will be held. The kids will join the parade happily. I love my hometown and no matter where I go, it is always on my mind.
