　　1. happen

　　happen v. 意為“發生”。用法如下：

　　(1) sth. happen to sb. 意為“某人出了什么事”。   eg: 

　　an accident happened to her the day before yesterday.  前天她出了一場車禍。

　　(2) happen to do sth. 意為“碰巧做某事”。     eg:

　　i happened to see him in the park. 我碰巧在公園里看見了他。

　　[注] happen多指偶然發生的事情；而take place多指事情是有計劃的。兩者都屬于不及物動詞,不能用于被動語態。    eg:

　　the accident happened at about 9:00.   事故發生在9點左右。

　　the meeting will take place tomorrow.  會議將明天舉行。

　　1. 1）so …that …如此…以至于….，that 引導的是結果狀語從句，其結構是so +形容詞或副詞+that 從句。

　　2）so…that …可以換成such +（a/an）+形容詞+名詞。

　　2. would like 作為一個固定結構后接名詞，代詞，不定式作賓語，也可以用不定式作賓補，表示想要的意思。

　　1）would like sth. 想要某物；i would like some rice and pork 。我想要一些米飯和豬肉。

　　2）would like to do sth. 想要做某事。

　　3）would like sb. to do sth. 想要某人做某事。

　　would like = want  想要

　　1. be 為助動詞，made 是及物動詞make 的過去分詞，of 后接賓語，be made of 的主語通常為成品。be made from 后的原材料則看不出，be made in 主語是成品，介詞in 后為產地，be made into 主語為原材料，介詞into 后接成品。

　　the table is made of wood 。這桌子是由木頭制成的。（可以看出原材料）

　　paper is made from wood 。紙是由木材制成的。（看不出原材料）

　　the comb is made in hong kong 。這把梳子是香港制造的。

　　iron is made into knives 。鐵可以制成小刀。

　　2. afford 常接在can ，could ，be able to 之后，意為擔負的起（…的費用，損失，后果等）；抽的出（時間）。afford 還有提供，給予，出產的意思。

　　3. on sale 上市；折價出售，減價出售。

　　for sale 待售，供出售。

　　7. （1）though 是從屬連詞，引導讓步狀語從句，和連詞but 不能連用，但翻譯時需譯為但是。如：though australia is very larger ，the population is quite small。雖然澳大利亞面積很大，但是人口卻很少。
