Since I was young I have always had a keen interest in the way that thethings around me work. From marvelling at the telephone to how planes can fly,engineering advances have never failed to captivate me. For this reason, I havealways tried to find out how such things function, and about how they have hadan impact on the society we live in today. Coupled with the fact that I havealways enjoyed the logical and problem-solving processes involved in maths andphysics, I decided several years ago to embark on a career in engineering.
Since then, I have endeavoured to find out as much about engineering aspossible. I researched the great engineers such as Brunel, and discovered thegreat works they had completed. I have attended several engineering conferences,the most recent of which I was selected to speak live on radio about myexperiences. And once I had completed several weeks' worth of work experience, Iwas assured that it was the career that I wanted to pursue.
This summer, I took part in the Nuffield Bursary scheme for a month,working in a team, at Aerogistics Ltd. Our project was to analyse and implementa new system for the distribution of consumable materials to the individualdepartments within the company. We found the current system to be highlyinefficient and after much data gathering and thought, presented our findings tothe senior managers of the company who agreed with our ideas. The last week wasspent starting the implementation of these ideas. I found the experience to behighly challenging, yet rewarding especially as it led to me gaining a GoldCrest Award. I also found it useful as I got to see engineers at work and thedaily problems that they face. I learnt that there is a lot more to being a goodengineer than possessing technical competence, although this is undoubtedlyimportant; team work, communication and leadership skills are vital as well.
I have also recently been selected to complete two placements with armyengineers. One of these placements will focus on the more practical side ofengineering while the other will focus on the skills needed by a professionalengineer focussing on project planning and leadership. I hope to find theexperience useful.
In my spare time I like to play sport and music. In secondary school I wascaptain for the Netball and Football teams, as well as taking part in variousother sports. The experience of this greatly improved my team working abilitiesas well as my fitness. As a keen musician I am working towards my grade 5 theoryand grade 7 practical on cello. I am a member of a Youth Orchestra, and havejust recently completed a tour of Italy. I am also in the school orchestra andhave led several orchestras in the past, before progressing to the LYO.
In school, I am Deputy Head Girl, helping to lead a team of over 40prefects. I find this to be a challenging and stimulating role and believe ithas developed my confidence immensely. As well as carrying out the normal dutiesof a prefect, such as supervising younger students, I must lead and manage theother prefects. My role involves arranging rotas, organising after school eventssuch as the Year 7 social and parent's evenings and public speaking as well asother responsibilities, which have developed my communication, organisation andleadership skills immensely. The role requires a lot of commitment, but it hashelped to improve my time management, as I try to strike a balance between itand school work, which is my main priority. I have also been selected to competein the Physics Olympiad and have been entered for the Biology AdvancedExtension.
During my time at university I hope to gain a good degree, which will standme in good stead for when I enter the world of work. I would like to continue myeducation in a place where I can thrive both academically and socially, andwhere I can put my determination and motivation into good use. Thank you.

I have been the Chinese teacher and class director in Zhengzhou 19th HighSchool for more than ten years. We are one of the most famous and high-qualityhigh schools in the whole city, the faculties in our school are all renowned andhighly-experienced. Though I’m relatively young in the school, I have lots ofexperience in Chinese teaching and student managing. I have been titled theoutstanding young teacher and class-director by school and city.
Yadi Wang came to my class in September 20__, the semester she entered ourschool. I know she is talent in music. She used to performance flute in ourschool activities, such as in talent show. In 20__, she passed the high leveltest of FLUTE LEVEL 8. She loves music that is all her classmates and schoolteachers know.
YADI WANG had special leadership and friendship in my class. Once we wereabout to take part in our school’s drama festival. We were supposed to play aChinese traditional drama –BAIMAONU. I analyzed some key plots and roles of thisdrama to my students, and then left all the other works to their own. YADI WANGwas in charge of the directing and casting. It was not an easy job as it maysound. The enthusiasm made everybody ask for the leading roles, but no one waswilling to take these minor ones. So YADI WANG decided to run an audition.Combined the performance in the audition and students’ actual characteristics,YADI WANG assigned everyone the most suitable role. And then, she divided thecrew into several groups. Different groups rehearsed in different places at thesame time. And the leading actors were the strings to connect these groups intoa collectivity. Through this way, it saved lots of time, which was the scarcestthing to middle school students, to get everybody into his role. And before thefinal performance, she just needed to call all the actors together for a previewfor once or twice. She has done even better than I had expected.
Another time was in a seminar, we ran a debate competition about teacher’sprofessional ethics. YADI WANG was the leading debater of the con side. Duringthe debate, she showed her wide knowledge and eloquence. She used lots ofproverbs, history figures and examples to support her stand, and every word ofher was incisive to get to the point, and also full of humors. Her performancewon both her teammates and opponents’ admiration.
Her positivity and versatility also can be found in many other aspects. Sheis ours school’s famous piano player who is always invited to play in manyoccasions. She knows the traditional skill of calligraphy writing, which she hasbeen practicing from very small. During weekends or vacations, the “HolidayWorking Team” she leads can always be found doing many community services.Normally, in order to get more students to participate in class’s management,the student cadre will change every semester or two, by student vote. But YadiWang has won all the elections by now, so she continued to be the monitor fromthe beginning of our class to today, and very likely to the graduation. All herclassmates have approbated her ability, characteristics and performance. She isalready a model in the class.
In this reference, I didn’t mention much about Yadi Wang’s grade, which Ibelieve you can easily find was so outstanding from her transcripts and herranking (25th out of 1560 students), because I’d like to give you something thatyou cannot find from these documents but I think is equally important tocontribute to her excellence. 一、準備英語考試
英語是一門交流工具，英聯邦國家像英國。澳大利亞等，需考雅思(IELTS)。北美國家像美國。加拿大考托福(TOEFL)。如果去美國讀研，加考GRE.念MBA,考GMAT.去英聯邦國家雅思一項就夠了。考英語考試是需要重點準備的，也是招生辦最看重的，最信的材料。
二、申請大學
這和申請哪國家相對應，一般最先決定去哪個國家。這涉及到準備何種英語。申請大學與專業。大學申請根據自身條件分幾個梯度。好的，與自己現狀對稱的。保底的三檔，一共申請5~6所，然后先擇其中一所自己認為比較好的大學，然后先擇專業。一般與自己背景一致或相關背景，也有的專業不需背景。如:MBA.MSC.教育學。社會學。亞洲研究等。在英語準備的過程可以和不同學校聯系，發郵件，了解清楚后申請大學。英語成績沒出來也可以申請。跟學校說你大概能考多少，學校會給你有條件的錄取，當去學校的時候，你把offer與英語成績一起給招生辦就可以了。
三、申請簽證
出國留學簽證就是在一個人所持的護照或旅行證件上簽注（蓋章），或貼上一張標簽，蓋章或標簽帶有清晰的說明文字，指明持有人進入該國的事由、允許停留的時間、或通過其領土前往其他國家的許可。一個人如果想出國旅行、定居或者留學、結婚等，除了需要持有護照以外，還應該持有相應的簽證。護照是持有者的國籍和身份證明，簽證則是主權國家準許外國公民或者本國公民出入境或者經過國境的許可證明。簽證一般都簽注在護照上，也有的簽注在代替護照的其他旅行證件上，有的還頒發另紙簽證。如美國和加拿大的移民簽證是一張A4大的紙張，新加坡對外國人也發一種另紙簽證，簽證一般來說須與護照同時使用，方有效力。對外國人，一般均是根據申請者的身份和入境目的發給不同的入境簽證，如旅游、探親、移民、留學、工作等簽證，并限制入境后的居留時間。因簽證種類不同，要求提供的有關材料也不一樣。一般對以短期居留為目的的申請限制較少，等待批準的時間也較短。對以長期居留為目的，申請則限制較多，待批的時間也較長。一個國家沒有允許外國人無條件入境的義務（有條約者除外），一個外國人也沒有要求一國政府允許他入境的權利。一個主權國家對外國人入境永遠是有條件限制的。近些年來，隨著國際貿易、國際政治關系的發展，旅游業的興旺，許多國家的簽證規定趨于簡化。各國之間也有互免簽證或簡化簽證手續的協議。
簽證的有效期，是指從簽證簽發之日起到以后的一段時間內準許入境，超過這一期限，該簽證就是無效簽證。一般國家發給3個月有效的入境簽證，也有的國家發給1個月有效的入境簽證。有的國家對簽證有效期限制很嚴，如德國只按申請日期發放簽證。過境簽證約有效期一般都比較短。
簽證的停留期，是指持證人入境該國后準許停留的時間。它與簽證有效期的區別，在于簽證的有效期是指簽證的使用期限，即在規定的時間內持證人可出入或經過該國。如某國的人、出境簽證有效期為3個月，停留期為l5天，那么，這個簽證從簽發日始3個月內無論哪一天都可以入、出該國國境，但是，從入境當日起，到出境當日止，持證人在該國只能停留15天。有的國家簽發必須在3個月之內入境，而入境后的`停留期為1個月；有的國家簽證入境期限和停留期是一致的。如美國訪問簽證的有效期和停留期都是3個月，即在3個月內入境方為有效，入境后也只能停留3個月。簽證有效期一般為1個月或者3個月；最長的一般為半年或者1年以上，如就業和留學簽證；最短的為3天或者7天，如過境簽證。
工作簽證，是指申請國國籍之外的申請人及外籍人士向申請國使館申請的，并且是受雇于申請國認證的正規機構。工作簽證是可以進入申請國國境之內進行工作的許可證，這是有法律效力的，非移民性質的證件。如果是留學生，畢業后不同的國別申請的工作簽證類型也不一樣。英國留學生畢業后只能申請三類工作簽證：即第二層級簽證、第五層級臨時工作簽證和第一層級（畢業生創業者）簽證。
有效次數，簽證除了有效期、停留期之外，還規定有效次數。一般分為一次有效簽證、兩次和多次有效簽證等。簽證的有效次數是指該簽證在有效期內，使用一次就失效。兩次有效簽證，即在簽證有效期內可以使用兩次。多次有效簽證，即在簽證有效期內持照人可以多次出、入其國境。例如澳大利亞、印度的旅游簽證有的是在3個月或者6個月內允許多次入出境。有些國家受雇簽證也是多次入境有效。當然簽發何種簽證，有效期限多長，有效次數多少，簽證機關是根據入境申請者的具體情況決定的。
四、購買機票
這個問題同樣可以在網上找機票信息。
五、體檢和換匯
到某國家指定的檢疫所體檢，到中國銀行換匯，帶上錄取通知書，上面會說明你要換多少錢。
六、行前準備
行李的規格等信息可以在各大網站查找。
七、乘機
沒有乘機經歷的，可提前到機場二。三小時，問機場工作人員，他們很友好的。
八、找國際辦公室

A wise man once said “how dreadful knowledge of the truth can be, when there’s no help in truth.” I think, out of all thoughtful things one can think about, this quotes is unique description of what the depth of Drama and the Performing Arts can do for people. By studying Drama, we can become a variety of people, trapped within one single mind, all trying to be freed and each with their own personality and poison. Humanity has helped Drama so much to produce narrative of such calibre, and characters of such depth and poise – characters, which can be as sweet and innocent, or can take the more disgusting side of what being a human is, being as evil as what thought possible
Performance Art explores the whole range of human emotion and can produce tremendous performances and visual experiences and with Drama, in particular, we can go further than flesh and blood and express ourselves as somebody else and take on this ‘mask’. The most profound thing I have found when studying Drama is that we can become any person in the entire world, and still be us
I have always had a love for the performing arts since I can remember; for there has never really been anything else I have ever wanted to do apart from act. But acting is not just a subject to study people, narratives or social issues – we can discover so many things about ourselves, why we perform a character this way: is it because this person is so much like us? There have been numerous qualities I have discovered about myself while participating in drama. In teaching, I have learn how to really connect with people and help them to explorer what their feelings produce and more notably, how we learn about others, about a single person just by the way they say a monologue
Teaching has been a great experience for me because it has given me the time to evaluate my own performance and teaching skill, learning to become that character just a little but more. This has also been enhanced by the performances I have taken part in, learning to work together in teams to realise the dream of the narration and the vision of the director (for nothing really exists without the vision or image)
While experiencing other aspects of the Performing Arts, I have found that is has increased my performance skill on whole and expended my knowledge on the performance world greatly, Dance, Art and English all focusing on similar issues such as the Commedia dell’arte, Henrik Ibsen, Physical Theatre and Movements and philosophies. These subjects have greatly complemented my time in Drama, and increased my confidence and ability in being a performer. Being involved in 5 consecutive school productions, 2 amateur productions, teaching experience and a student has really influence me concerning the determination I will put into a career in Drama and Acting, and just working with these people and directors have really bettered me in the way I act, see myself and carry on with my life. The Performing Arts is such a brilliant profession to work in, because there is so much opportunity to explore the world
I know that I can offer the performing arts the time, the expense and the spark that it deserves. There is nothing else in world that I would devote more time to than being on the stage or acting in the street, and with the passion and determination to succeed behind me, I will give that spark and flavour that acting and the performing arts is all about. I know I can offer so much, because it is the only profession where, maybe just for one night, I can become someone else and do a damn good job of being that person – and I can easily say that I can offer the world, because performance and acting is my whole world. As well as enjoying Drama, I have also taken a shine to Philosophy and finding the reason for irrationality, and I feel particularly moved in amazement by the work of Bob Fosse and George Orwell for their use of horror, sorrow and murder. And a great interest to the History of Art, because so much of the story of us is portrayed in Art and more so these days it is so unique how Art and Drama work together to produce movement, beauty and conception.

美國本科上線在60萬左右，少部分加拿大、英國、澳洲、新加坡的學校費用最低在15萬左右，通常是20-30萬不等，要區分不同的大學，不同的專業，以及不同的地理位置。我們在考慮是否讓孩子出國留學前，首先還是要考慮資金的問題，看自己的家庭能給孩子提供多大程度的資金支持，再決定是否出國，以及去哪個國家留學。
語言能力(托福/雅思)
無論是去英語國家還是非英語國家，都要考慮語言的問題。絕大部分的留學生是英語非母語的背景，要去到英語國家學習，通常需要準備托福或者雅思的語言考試作為自己英語能力的測試。按照經驗來說，我們能考取到一個不錯的國內大學的學生，比如一本，一般通過一段時間的學習，托福可以拿到8、90分的成績。以詞匯量為例，高考的核心詞匯量在3500左右，托福如果想考出一個還算可以的成績，詞匯量需要達到8、9000左右，由此可以看出托福的難度。
獨立和適應能力
我們的學生十幾年來習慣了中國的生活，突然去到一個陌生的國家，面臨不同的語言、文化、社會環境，需要比較強的適應能力。無論是出門辦個銀行卡，買個電話卡，還是逛街吃飯等，都需要留學生自己去應對處理。由于國外的教育體制等方面的不同，我們有的學生出去后會非常適應留學生活，甚至享受這個過程，但是很多學生卻是在這個過程中難以去自我約束，自我調整，而家長又鞭長莫及，最后出現很多問題。
