I live in Pakistan-a country destroying itself with bombs,guns and governments' blabber to find justifications for what it is going through;a country where a former president is murdered in public,where the nation's constitution and parliament are suspended at the same time,and where the voice of a common man is unheard.
Since the last few years, I had aspired to become a doctor.The idea of "scalpels," "opened chests" and "sutures" had always intrigued me.And then it happened!The recent unprecedented events in my country wiped off the dust of disillusionment from my eyes;I lost my will to become a doctor.However,the turmoil in the country led me towards newspapers and news channels,and hence Politics.
As I involved myself into politics,I realized that it is all-embracive-wielding its way over social and economic life-it is the omnipotent of Pakistan.It can mobilize public opinion,gear up propaganda machinery,make or repeal laws and what not.Backed up by public opinion,supported by the majority of the legislators,armed with the means to keep the people in a state of ignorance,political power crosses the limits of dictatorial powers.Political power,like the most powerful intoxicant,makes the persons in power to forget social ethics,political morality and obligations.
Most of the learned youth in this country consider Politics to be "a refuge for the scoundrels" and this derogatory remark may be true if we look at the deceptive and degenerated type of politicians indulging in a dirty game.All these political parties are votaries of democracy,but the way they conduct themselves inside their own parties is nothing but senseless authoritarianism.Therefore a very few students choose to pursue Politics as a profession,but what they don't realize is that if we don't take a stand the system can never be changed.Thus,I want to study Politics so I can come back to my country and contribute what little I can do for my homeland and its people.If I can inspire even a single person,it would be worth it.The world today is growing global.We are now not only to think of our own nation but as and when we think of it,we have to keep the international perception in mind;consequently,I chose Politics with International Relations as one of my courses.
Studying in UK will breed a sense of individuality and self reliance.I would be able to interact with people from everywhere and get to know about their culture.This would not only open new horizons for me,but would also clear some preconceived notions one has about the other.I have always been an active participant of debates.I have participated in 3 Model UN conferences out of which I was awarded with the Best Delegate award in two. I was also one of the two students to be selected from my school to participate in the English Speaking Union '08.Moreover, I've taken part in Parliamentary style debates too.Therefore I believe I can communicate effectively in public and language will not be a barrier in my education.Furthermore, I have worked as an internee at Al-Shifa Eye Hospital for a month in summers.Here I learnt how to deal with patients,use the Auto Ref, handle files and punctuality.We also campaigned to a remote area near Murree where we helped the doctors in examining the patients free of cost.Another experience which taught me a lot was when me and my fellow colleagues volunteered to paint walls for the SOS Children's Village.In addition,I worked with SUNGI (NGO) where a group of 5 of us had to organize an event to pay tribute to 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize.
I enjoy Literature,especially the works of Shakespeare,Tennessee Williams,Thomas Hardy and Andrew Marvell.I'd be delighted to study in a challenging atmosphere where I can focus on my studies.I commit to my work and my ability to think out of the box,keenness for Politics and my perception of things,I understand,gives me an edge over others.I believe in myself,and if provided with an opportunity,I'd make the university proud.

我們對寫作的方式十分感興趣，申請人如何講述非常重要——用清晰、準(zhǔn)確的方式表達(dá)思想。在一所充斥著高素質(zhì)候選人的學(xué)校里，決策的依據(jù)并非是數(shù)據(jù)和公式。個人自述幫助招生辦做出理性的、但最終還是主觀的判斷。如果一所學(xué)校接一所學(xué)校地咨詢，你就會發(fā)現(xiàn)個人自述的重要性越來越大。
是否具有對其職業(yè)的綜合反思能力
在一篇個人自述中，我們要求申請人將他們的過去和未來有機(jī)地結(jié)合起來。我們把這種自傳叫作“職業(yè)目標(biāo)”自傳。它為我們提供了確鑿的信息，同時也可以確定申請人是否具有對自己及其職業(yè)的綜合性反思能力。通常的情況是，即使是那些按照傳統(tǒng)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)最聰明的人也做不到這一點(diǎn)。

避免三個極端的非此即彼的常見問題
(1)避免不實(shí)吹捧以及“英國式低調(diào)”
個人自述中最常見的錯誤就是把簡歷或個人歷史重述一遍，沒有反思、評價和自我批評。另一個錯誤就是寫的都是“招生辦的人想聽的事情”，結(jié)果經(jīng)常讓人感到做作和矯情。
還有一些人不愿意講自己，我們把這種情況叫作“英國式低調(diào)。”這并不一定是一個錯誤。事實(shí)上，在閱讀了無數(shù)自我吹捧(這是另一個陷阱)的文章后，這種文章倒讓人耳目一新。但是，如果申請人說得太少，也會令我們無從得知他這樣做是出于謙遜呢還是因?yàn)樽居诒磉_(dá)，或者他沒有想到這篇文章對我們的重要性。
(2)在整體和簡潔之間做到令人愉快的折衷
建議不要把草稿寄過來。文章寫完后要再看兩遍。盡量做到清楚、準(zhǔn)確，但也不要因?yàn)槠南拗品恋K文章的完整。在整體和簡潔之間可以做到令人愉快的折衷。但是，大多數(shù)的自傳都太長了，換句話說，過長的文章要多于過短的。
最好的辦法就是盡可能全面、誠實(shí)地回答學(xué)校的問題。讓招生辦的人自己去做有關(guān)錄取的決定。不要想著搞什么心理戰(zhàn)，或者企圖替別人做決定。有些申請人自認(rèn)為知道學(xué)校的想法，把自己裝扮成某種類型，這樣做會使我們失去了一個了解你的個性和思想的機(jī)會。
(3)坦白具有風(fēng)險，不必掩飾對未來的不確定性
再說一遍，要誠實(shí)。誠實(shí)和坦白是優(yōu)秀個人自述的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，就像在工作和生活中一樣，雖然這樣做也有一點(diǎn)風(fēng)險。有些申請人認(rèn)為那些被錄取的人都非常清楚在今后40年要做些什么。事實(shí)上，在這一時期，你對未來的想法還是一片迷茫。你可能要進(jìn)入一個重新反省的階段，感覺像是經(jīng)歷了一次重新組合、人生翻到了下一頁、生活的方向也在改變。但是你并不清楚要走哪條路。如果你確實(shí)如此，那么就照實(shí)說；我們非常理解，即使是一些好學(xué)生，未來的管理界領(lǐng)袖也都經(jīng)歷過這種“階段”。誠實(shí)地表示出你對未來的不確定要比裝作什么都知道好得多。

To live a meaningful life everyday; to continually pursue my predetermined worthwhile goals. -My view of life.
Could I put myself in the life-threatening working environment? Could I sacrifice my life for the benefits of others? Some people may laugh at my crazy question. To me, that is a serious question I have come a long way to find my answer. “I am not sure whether it is worth to answer”; “What is the true meaning of that question?”
When I was a young child, I watched a soap opera that was about court. I was deeply impressed by the judge’s calmness and the lawyer’s eloquence and resource that were showed in this opera. From then on, I hoped to study law some day. Fortunately, I performed well in entrance examination and got enrolled into __ University. Then I chose law as my major without hesitation. At university, I studied hard and got GPA 3.4. What’s more, I broadly read all kinds of books, including philosophy, history etc. My teachers’ instruction strengthened my understanding of law and makes me understand the significance of law to a country. From my studies, I had a lot of fun and got more interested in law. Moreover, I actively participated in practice in holidays from common company to law firm and tried to apply the theory I had learned into practice.
This summer, I had my internship in counselor department in __x Group Co Ltd which was involved in a business contract dispute, which was submitted to China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission for arbitration. As a representative of the requested applicant, I took part in the evidence collection in the early arbitration stage and clearly explained why the 5% balance of goods was not paid on time. After knowing the whole case, I visited my teacher, an Arbitration Law professor, and listened to her opinions. Realizing the counterpart didn’t completely implement their contract duty, I gave reasons as follows: First, the counterpart company didn’t mention bearing issue, which caused that the delivered machines couldn’t be put into the plant because of the disqualification of workshop. Thus overhaul was necessary, which delayed production and resulted loss. Based on these reasons, the counterpart didn’t completely carry out its duty, so our party did not pay the balance on time. During this time, I found out the evidence and pictures that attested counterpart did not give reasonable suggestion and service, and made a statement in the court. Finally, the arbitration turned out that counterpart compensated our loss, in which the arbiters invoked the reasons that I stated. They had a panel made up of 3 lawyers and 5 company representatives as agents while we just had 3 persons—two lawyers and me. Under such condition, I was able to cooperate with them and clearly stated my opinions without any nervousness, which got their respect. This matter greatly inspired my enthusiasm on study.
In addition, I took part in the contact draft in several companies. In the process, when I met a lot of problems, I often turned to my teachers for help, which made good impression on them. As I cherished each practice, I studied my specialty and English hard. With effective study method and diligence, I did well both in English and law, which helped me a lot to get scholarship every year. On the other hand, my practice inspired me to study. In practice, I exercised my legal knowledge. I also realize the big gap between theory and its application—sometimes I have master the rules but I didn’t know how to use it in actual case. 美國留學(xué)材料
1、SAT/ACT考試成績(申請本科需要)
如果你在美國讀高中，SAT是一定要考的;如果你在國內(nèi)讀高中，申請美國本科時，排名前60位的大學(xué)基本都對此有要求。所以，對于絕大多數(shù)申請美國留學(xué)的學(xué)生來說，這一考試都是繞不開的。
絕大多數(shù)美國大學(xué)，遞交SAT成績或ACT成績都是可以的，但從名校申請的統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)據(jù)表明，提交SAT的申請者幾乎是ACT的兩倍，更多人還是選擇SAT。
SAT考試分為SAT1和SAT2，SAT1俗稱美國高考，是一個考察學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)能力的考試。SAT2是學(xué)科的測試，其實(shí)就是專業(yè)課考試，給大學(xué)呈現(xiàn)學(xué)生在專門領(lǐng)域水平。SAT2大部分學(xué)校是不需提交的。國內(nèi)學(xué)生主要考SAT1，是否需要考SAT2取決于申請學(xué)校的要求。

3、英語考試成績
根據(jù)學(xué)校要求，你需要考托福或雅思，絕大多數(shù)申請美國學(xué)校的學(xué)生都是考托福。成績單直接通過官方的機(jī)構(gòu)寄送即可。
4、成績單
申請美國本科，需要遞交9~12年級的成績單，也就是初三到高三(申請時未畢業(yè)的同學(xué)不必打印高三的)，別落了初三!申請美國研究生，需要遞交大一到大四的成績單(未畢業(yè)同學(xué)不必打印大四的)。
學(xué)校如果有自己的模版，用學(xué)校的模版即可，如果學(xué)校沒有模版，就用學(xué)校抬頭紙打印成績單，落款蓋公章，封入學(xué)校官方信封，兩邊封口處加蓋學(xué)校公章。
成績單需要譯成英文，可以分開兩頁紙，也可以中英對照。
成績單的數(shù)量最好比申請的學(xué)校數(shù)量多3~5份，以備不時之需。
成績單上最好將自己的百分成績換算成GPA，并顯示自己在班級所排名次。
美國有的學(xué)校要求成績單從學(xué)校寄出，大家要注意申請學(xué)校是否有要求。如果沒有，把成績單和其它材料一并寄出即可。
留學(xué)申請寫作內(nèi)容
1.評價你的一個重要經(jīng)歷﹑成就﹑風(fēng)險決定﹑或者你曾面對的兩難選擇的經(jīng)歷，并評價對你造成的影響。

I have always enjoyed studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and I wouldlike the opportunity to continue this study. Chemical Engineering appeals to mebecause of the challenges involved in the application of scientific theory topractical, real world problems such as how to deal with nuclear waste. Iparticularly look forward to studying fluid dynamics as I was introduced to thisduring the Engineering Education Scheme (EES). I am aware that in today’s worldchemical engineering has an increasingly important role across a wide range ofindustries from pharmaceuticals to petrochemicals. The broad range of careerpaths, and the opportunity to contribute to society through technologicalinnovation, is for me, one of the main attractions of chemical engineering.
I have applied to take part in the Year In Industry scheme during which Ihope to gain practical experience, as well as greater maturity enabling me to gointo my degree course with improved skills and broader experience. I also hopeto study e-learning courses on project management and presentation skills run bythe IChemE. In Year 12 I took part in the EES, which improved my understandingand skills in team working, time management, and report writing, as well asvisual and oral presentation. Throughout the course of the project the team hadto frequently correspond with mentors in industry and academia and thisexperience has broadened my appreciation of practice and application in a reallife situation. In July I attended a week-long ‘Into Engineering’ seminar run byREACT Engineering. Working in two teams, we were given a design exercise basedupon a ty///picmissioning project. I also attended a Headstart courseat Newcastle University, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of the main activitieswas to design, manufacture and test a small crane. I found both of theseexperiences very challenging, as we were given only limited time so we had toprioritise our tasks and carefully plan our work.
This year a fellow student and I were awarded ￡500 by the EuropeanScholarship Prize to fund a visit to Prague to do research for our A-levelHistory coursework. I gained an understanding of the city’s culture and historyand further developed my independence. During the summer I represented my schoolon a Connexions review of a government white paper on 14-19 education. I gainedan insight into the government’s proposals and learned a lot about working withdifferent groups of people. Last year I was part of the editorial team for theschool magazine. I wrote a number of articles and I was responsible for ensuringthat staff contributions were ready for the deadline. I also enjoy participatingin a range of sports and have represented the school at football and cricket,which has further enhanced my team working skills.
In my spare time I am working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. InSeptember I completed a 4-day expedition in the Lake District, which tested myendurance but gave me a great sense of achievement. Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies,economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its globalposition. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannotcatch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning fieldin China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management inEngland.
The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to mychildhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modernentrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his businessventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. Mymother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simplecalculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would somedaybe able to enter the realm of business.
With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy mycuriosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered.Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and myknowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasingrapidly.
As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the CollegeEntrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were neverexcluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, 20xx, Iwas so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in thedepartment of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional ChineseMedicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be afailure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms, I realizedthat I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At thatmoment, I lost my direction and objectives.

By December, 20xx, I had finally determined to take business managementas my career instead of IT. 很多人認(rèn)為學(xué)英語直接到國外學(xué)，因?yàn)閲獾挠⒄Z環(huán)境好，能夠幫助學(xué)生更快提高語言能力。但是對于還沒有具備扎實(shí)語言基礎(chǔ)的中國學(xué)生而言，這肯定不是一個好建議。
中國學(xué)生在接受了長時間的傳統(tǒng)填鴨式、應(yīng)試型教育之后，有很多人不具備良好的獨(dú)立學(xué)習(xí)能力和實(shí)踐勇氣，更沒有達(dá)到對于英語的運(yùn)用自如。如果馬上出國留學(xué)，難免聽不懂課、張不開嘴，進(jìn)而陷入學(xué)習(xí)的惡性循環(huán)當(dāng)中。
建議高中生在出國留學(xué)前，做好語言準(zhǔn)備，讓自己踏出國門后更快地融入當(dāng)?shù)厣鐣M快地與人交流溝通。
2、學(xué)習(xí)能力準(zhǔn)備
國內(nèi)外的學(xué)習(xí)方式不盡相同，有留學(xué)想法的同學(xué)，應(yīng)提高自己的自學(xué)能力，提前學(xué)習(xí)一些西方大學(xué)課程。畢竟語言成績達(dá)標(biāo)只能說明學(xué)生具備一定的英語能力，這還遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不夠，因?yàn)樗淮韺W(xué)生在西方體系教學(xué)模式下能取得好成績。海外大學(xué)的教學(xué)和考核模式對中國學(xué)生是完全陌生，也與應(yīng)試教育是截然相反的。因此，很多雖然托福、雅思成績達(dá)標(biāo)或優(yōu)秀的學(xué)生，到了國外大學(xué)課堂，完全無所適從，學(xué)習(xí)成績非常糟糕，甚至多門重修，以致被大學(xué)勒令退學(xué)或轉(zhuǎn)校。
3、生活能力準(zhǔn)備
留學(xué)海外，學(xué)生遠(yuǎn)離父母，完全依靠自己管理吃穿住行和學(xué)習(xí)，自我管理能力就變得非常重要。出國留學(xué)，實(shí)際上也是一個孩子獨(dú)立的開始，他必須自己面對海外生活的各種問題。此外，團(tuán)隊(duì)合作精神、有計(jì)劃性、時間管理能力等都是要提前做好的準(zhǔn)備。能否具備這些優(yōu)秀品格及個人素質(zhì)，是保證留學(xué)成功又一大關(guān)鍵因素。
4、申請及簽證準(zhǔn)備
不少國外大學(xué)錄取學(xué)生絕對不只是看托福、雅思成績或“唯分?jǐn)?shù)論”。在大學(xué)申請這一環(huán)節(jié)，千萬不要走格式和流程化，應(yīng)當(dāng)客觀實(shí)際地展現(xiàn)學(xué)生的個性化特征、學(xué)術(shù)成績和綜合能力。學(xué)生應(yīng)該請經(jīng)驗(yàn)豐富的老師在申請材料這一方面做指導(dǎo)，但是絕對不能做假材料。

一、了解申請國家的留學(xué)簽證和申請條件
無論申請哪個國家的簽證，都需要提前了解該國家在辦理簽證的流程和相關(guān)的材料之類的。因?yàn)榇笫桂^對于簽證的要求也是經(jīng)常有變動性，所以為了避免在正式辦理簽證過程中出現(xiàn)錯誤問題，申請人應(yīng)該提前了解一下該國家簽證的流程和所需材料。
二、預(yù)約簽證
大多數(shù)國家辦理簽證時是需要提前預(yù)約的，例如：美國，學(xué)生們可以提前到中信銀行卡購買電話卡致電美國大使館進(jìn)行預(yù)約簽證，對于沒有預(yù)約而直接到簽證中心遞交材料的情況，申請中心是不會受理的。
三、填寫簽證申請表

I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in Electrical and ComputerEngineering， at the University of California， Berkeley. This was thetime I learnt the first lesson of finance from my father i.e. risk and returnare proportionate. In 1998 when I was in the second year the China stock marketcrashed. But fortunately， my father had a well-diversified portfolio because ofwhich our returns were protected from the downside risk. This was when I learntthe second principle of finance from my father i.e. diversification reducesrisk. While I understood these two principles intuitively， it produced in me astrong urge to learn and understand the complex theory behind the working ofFinance. This， I believe， was a turning point in my career. I made up my mind topursue a career in Finance and hence decided to do a Masters program in BusinessAdministration.
As I was finishing college， my mother had both of her hips replaced withartificial ones because all of the cartilage in her hip joints had worn away andit was very painful for her to walk. I found it fascinating that engineers，orthopedic surgeons， and biologists had all worked together to design theseartificial joints that completely transform. people's lives by giving them backpain-free mobility， and I knew at that moment that this was an area about whichI wanted to learn more. In China these days， university graduates who have notbeen lucky enough to settle into their dream jobs often look to graduatedstudies as a way to kill the time that they cannot otherwise spend meaningfully.I am prepared to go against the social conventions by putting on hold asuccessful research career that promised to be even more successful. 在首都這座夢想之城，可謂高校林立，但是只有貴校深深地吸引了我的目光。每年，我們高中都會有人考入貴校，他們被譽(yù)為“天子驕子”。當(dāng)錄取金榜貼到校園里，看著他們臉上洋溢的笑容，我的心里也如波濤洶涌，再也那耐不住了。我暗暗下定決心，有朝一日我也要以自己的實(shí)力筑夢于人大校園，成為她的一分子。
可說歸說，要想成功，唯有刻苦努力，勤奮學(xué)習(xí)。

I am interested in the field of study of Organizational Behavior. In thepast， I have had the experience of working in settings where the people and thecorporate cultures of the companies were all different. I have found that thereis a great difference in the both the behaviors of people and of theirorganizations， depending on whether they are state-owned enterprises (SOEs)，large multinational firms， or small to medium sized foreign enterprises. Onesimple example is that of the ability of an employee to act independentlywithout direct instructions from his or her boss. In many Chinese organizations，acting without direct instructions is considered a form of disrespect towardsthe supervisor， who is generally offended by such behavior. In my experience andresearch， such organizations tend to have low operating efficiency with theemployees losing their innate ability to take the initiative.
In contrast， foreign enterprises tend to welcome employees who have theability to make decisions on their own， though the extent to which this is truedepends on whether the supervisor is a local Chinese or an expatriate.
The purpose behind this personal statement is to not only gain admission toyour well-established and highly respected Ph.D. program， but to impress uponyou my passion for learning and my tremendous desire to succeed in bothscholastic research and in teaching on the professional level. I have based mydecision to pursue an academic career not on purely practical reasons， butrather on my own natural interests and aptitude. My personal philosophy is thatmoney and social status should not be pursued as life-consuming objectives andthat in actuality they are the by-products of goals originating from one's innerneeds. The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. my father was among the first of china’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. as a young girl， it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures， and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. my mother was also involved in business as an accountant， helping him with simple calculations. and so it was early in my life that i hoped i， also， would someday be able to enter the realm of business.
With the time of growing up， i preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. i never ceased to contemplate over the questions i encountered. subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.
As a high school student in china， i had to concentrate on the college entrance examination (cee)， even so， books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. unfortunately when sitting in the exam in june， __， i was so nervous that i didn’t score well in the cee exam. i enrolled in the department of computer science in zhejiang college of traditional chinese medicine. any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. after several terms， i realized that i would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. at that moment， i lost my direction and objectives.
My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. as a matter of fact， i enjoyed reading the books included encyclopedia american， and some books about management by peter ker. i began to notice something interesting： why some companies can produce more than others? why some company can sell more than others? why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?
With the questions in my mind， i started to read many relevant books. i was lucky to read the book “jack： straight from the gut”by jack welch， in which john a. byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. when i was a junior， i ran a bookshop by myself near my school. i should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. from this， my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed， definitely i was increasingly interested in what i was doing. by december， __， i had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of it. to accumulate more relevant knowledge， i strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.
